Weather problems in Atlanta, New Orleans, Chicago and Jacksonville are causing delays in Thursday afternoon flights out of Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Some Thursday afternoon flights left the gate only to be stopped in the midst of taxiing, then returned to the gate for a delay up to two hours. An MIA spokesperson said the airport wasn’t at a ground stop, but flights headed in the direction of the aforementioned four cities with foul weather were delayed.
While the military did claim a portion of airspace normally used by commercial airlines at one point Thursday afternoon, an American Airlines spokesperson said, the main reason for the delays is the weather.
Check with the airline for the delay length on your flight or the flight for which you’re making an airport run.
