With the NFL Draft just nine days off, the Dolphins brought in Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro for a visit Tuesday, the last day college prospects were allowed to travel to teams’ facilities.
“Miami visit went great,” Vaccaro tweeted Tuesday afternoon. “One more left!”
That final stop on his predraft tour, he later said, was New Orleans. The Saints own the 15th pick of the draft, three after Miami selects.
On the list of Dolphins draft needs, safety likely isn’t in the top three. Still, the Dolphins might view Vaccaro as the long-term answer at the position, and as good value — particularly if they trade down. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has Vaccaro going 16th to Pittsburgh in his latest mock draft.
Vaccaro had 92 tackles, two interceptions and seven pass breakups in his senior year at Texas.
• Defensive tackleRandy Starks
, who is not participating in the team’s voluntary offseason workout program, will attend only the mandatory minicamp this spring, according to agentTony Paige
. Starks is the team’s franchise tag designee for the 2013 season and wants a long-term deal.
Despite the dispute, Starks still participated in the team’s community event Tuesday at K1 Speed in Hollywood, where the Dolphins took 25 foster-care teens from Handy and His House Children’s Home go-kart racing.
• The NFL schedule will be released at 8 p.m. Thursday.
