Frances Robles covers Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico for the Miami Herald foreign desk. A native New Yorker who graduated from NYU, her first job was covering suburban schools for the Plain Dealer in Cleveland, OH. She joined the Herald in 1993. The paper’s former Nicaragua-based Central America correspondent, she also served as bureau chief in Bogotá, Colombia where she covered the civil conflict and government collapses in three countries. Robles has been a member of two Pulitzer Prize-winning teams and was a finalist for a third.
