Remaining customers of Citizens Property Insurance Corp. will find it easier to say yes or no to takeover offers by private-market insurers under new rules approved Wednesday by the state-run company's board of governors.
Complaints that Citizens customers would suddenly find their policies switched to new companies prompted creation of a new state law last spring requiring all transfer notices to come from Citizens itself, with clear language spelling out the customers' options.
