Salons reopened in Miami . Here are a few of our favorites and what to expect when you are there

In order to continue providing top quality services to their patrons, salons like Red Market at Bal Harbour Shops have implemented strict new policies including plenty of sanitizing and a zero tolerance policy for clients showing coronavirus-like symptoms.

Chin-length bangs. Greys for days. The biggest hair trend of quarantine was unkempt locks. Now that Miami has reopened its salons, you can get back into your grooming routine. Here is a look at some of our favorite salons and what to expect when you’re ready for the first visit back.

Red Market

Parked inside of Bal Harbour Shops, Red Market Miami Salon has long been known for its amazing cuts, color, even manicures. And now it’s ready to welcome you back to those services again. But this time around, you’ll have to adhere to its new safety measures. For starters, you’ll need to have your temp checked at the door. Clients will not be allowed to pass the retail center without staff approval. Payment is now contact-less, as payment info will be stored for future appointments. Expect lots of disinfecting and sanitizing. All hair and nail tools are sanitized, and brushes are individually wrapped. There is also a zero tolerance policy for sick clients. Keep in mind, the salon is operating at a smaller capacity than before, so services will cost an extra $5 to $20. This also helps cover the new cost of safety measures. And be sure to cancel your appointment. No shows and late arrivals will be charged the full amount for the service now that the salon is limiting its usual number of appointments. “We’ve researched every little detail for an optimum guest experience for the new reality. Our demand is up, and we have adapted to our new normal with a service that is better than before,” says Rogelio Gonzalez, co-owner and hair artist at Red Market in Bal Harbour shops. Sean Donaldson Hair

Vanessa Rogers Photography. Sean Donaldson Salon, Miami Beach.

Bar far the most popular salon in Miami Beach and Brickell, Sean Donaldson Hair is a favorite of many Miami locals. While there is nothing quite like the Sean Donaldson experience, loyal customers (and newbies) can expect a few changes when they enter the doors at the Lincoln Road and Brickell salons this time around. For starters, no double bookings. It’s only one client in the chair at a time. Temperatures are checked before entering the salon (this applies to both guests and employees). A list of health questions will need to be answered before entering the salon (again for both guests and employees). Gloves and acrylic shields are used by employees at all times during services. All surfaces are cleaned every 30 minutes. Customers can expect hand sanitizer at every station. Dividers between each stylists’ station helps with social distancing. Face masks are worn at all times, and for clients who need a mask one will be provided. Safety first. Find more information about Sean Donaldson Hair here.

Marie Robinson

Marie Robinson Salon in Aventura.

The re-opening of Aventura Mall meant the re-opening of Marie Robinson Salon. Known for its return to blonde super powers, Marie Robinson’s doors opening once again on May 21 meant Miami girls will get their chance to get back to their roots (even if it’s not their natural ones). Upon entering you’ll notice the salon is adhering to CDC guidelines “to ensure the utmost safety and cleanliness.” Upon scheduling your appointment, a COVID-19 questionnaire will be emailed to you and must be completed before arrival. Appointments are scheduled in a manner that promotes social distancing and allows for adequate time to disinfect all areas of use between clients. Clients are expected to wear a face covering and will be asked to sanitize their hands immediately upon entry. Expect temperature checks at the door. And also find plastic shields installed at the front desk. All staff wears PPE during the work day. As stated on their welcome back Instagram post, “Come visit. We’ve missed you. And we know your hair has missed us.” Find more information about Marie Robinson here.

IGK

IGK, located in Miami Design District.

IGK is a Design District hotspot and a favorite of influencers. The likes of which have been flocking back since it’s opening on May 18th. As you may have seen on their stories, the salon’s new policies include on their part: extra cleaning and sanitization, social distancing at all stations (10 feet apart, not just 6), Germicidal UV lights installed in the ac system and plexi and glass panels between each station to help with social distancing. You’ll also find sanitizers and wipes at each station. Employees wear face shields and masks at all times and regularly wash hands and wear gloves. There’s also reduced staff working at the same time. On your end, you’ll need to: stay home if you feel ill the day of your appointment. Wear a mask at all times. Stay 10 feet away from other clients, come alone (no pets) and arrive with clean, freshly washed hair for any service. You’ll also have to limit yourself to one personal item during your visit. You must arrive on time (else you’ll be charged a $30 late fee if it’s beyond 15 minutes). You will not be allowed to wait inside prior to your appointment. Services must be paid in full when booking your appointment. In return you’ll get the hair you’ve missed oh so much. Find more information about IGK here.
