INDULGE’s Daily Dish: End the week on a sweet note with this celebrity chef’s French toast recipe

Chef Danie's lusciously sugary vanilla bean-infused French toast should be on your Sunday morning menu.

These days, we take our luxuries where we can find them. For many, those precious moments of sweet extravagance are found in the kitchen and the dishes we create for our families and ourselves. Celebrity chef and self-described “culinary architect” Danie Abraham has made plenty of unforgettably indulgent meals for the likes of Drake, Kylie Jenner, Oprah Winfrey and Pharrell Williams, infusing each of her dishes with robust flavors and influences from her parents’ homelands of Haiti and Dominican Republic. But as exotic as some of her favorite ingredients can be, the Miami native can whip up traditional favorites just the same – especially when the recipe calls for perfectly syrupy, buttery and fluffy French toast. Pampering ourselves (and our taste buds) has never been more delicious.

Vanilla Bean French Toast

Ingredients:

½ cup Butter, melted

1 cup Brown sugar, packed

2 tbsp Organic maple syrup

7-8 slices French Brioche Bread, 1-inch thick

5 Large eggs

1 cups Heavy cream

2 teaspoons Grand Marnier

1 Vanilla bean (or 2 teaspoons of vanilla bean extract)

Preparation:

In a shallow pan or bowl, add the eggs, heavy cream, vanilla bean, cinnamon, grand marnier, brown sugar and salt. Whisk until well combined. Dip each side of the bread in the egg mixture. Melt a little butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the French toast until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Serve the French toast warm with maple syrup and some powdered sugar. Top with berries, if desired as we see in the accompanying image.
