The famous blue box company now offers a little something for the man with refined tastes
In an era of female-positive headlines, Tiffany & Co. is making one of its own to empower not just her this time around but him. The brand behind luxury goods launches its new men’s line, Tiffany 1837 Makers, a collection of jewelry, accessories, barware, games and home goods all geared toward men who enjoy the finer things in life— housed in its famously blue box, of course.
“Men have become more focused on their personal style and curating not only their wardrobes but curating their lifestyles, so it felt like the right idea and the right time to introduce a comprehensive lifestyle collection,” Chief Artistic Officer Reed Krakoff says. “Tiffany has a history of offering traditional jewelry. I wanted to broaden the men’s category to offer more modern and casual jewelry and have the collection represent more aspects of people’s lives.” Those other aspects refer to the new collection’s home goods and accessories with a masculine slant. Think leather notebooks, sterling silver shoe horns, compasses and sterling combs.
And it’s all inspired by something landing in our own backyard come early next month: Trophies. Tiffany has a long-standing history of designing trophies like the Super Bowl Vince Lombardi Trophy, which will be handed out right here in Miami on Sunday, February 2, 2020. Tiffany also has a hand in crafting the AFC Championship, NFC Championship and Super Bowl MVP Trophies. All of these will be on display at Tiffany & Co. at Bal Harbour Shops from January 13 through 23 in celebration of Super Bowl LIV.
Sports fanatics take note: Some of the same techniques, dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, that were used to make these trophies are being used to make the new men’s collection. It’s also where the new collection derives its name: Tiffany 1837 Makers. “Each piece that is crafted by hand receives a hallmark to symbolize the techniques used in the process and this hallmark served as inspiration for the Makers motif,” Krakoff says. These pieces also carry the same stamp that appears on the trophies: T & CO MAKERS. There’s also the NY and AG925 stamped onto each piece of the collection, as well.
In keeping with the trophy theme, the Tiffany 1837 Makers Trophy Ring is a made-to-order piece that celebrates the craftsmanship of taking a “completely flat piece of metal and creating the most extraordinary three-dimensional pieces that I have ever seen,” Krakoff says.
But if football isn’t your game of choice, not to worry. The collection’s offerings includes showstoppers like a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted solid sterling silver and 18k yellow gold vermeil chess set. It serves as both an enthralling game and a conversation piece.
Or if sipping spirits is more your sport, the collection of barware should be the perfect trophy to add to your bar. Flasks, cocktail shakers, cocktail jiggers, bottle openers, beer mugs, ice tongs and serving trays make up the new stock. And the celebrations they will endure will be Super Bowl sized, we’re sure.
