Disney World is a blast for the family but you should know the essentials to buy before going to Disney World Florida to ensure your trip is safe and comfortable. The essentials to buy before going to Disney World Florida include comfortable walking shoes, a portable cooling device, as well as sunscreen.

These items will save many people in the family from becoming irritable and frustrated and allow your trip to Disney World to be a memorable experience instead of a stressful one. Here is our list of the essentials to buy as well as specific items we would recommend.

Comfortable Walking Shoes

TIOSEBEN Women’s Walking Shoes

What We Like

  • Mesh and breathable
  • Comes in a wide selection of colors
  • Slip on
  • Great design for comfortable while walking or working out

What We Don’t Like

  • Soles come out after repeated use
  • Sizes run a bit small

Review

We believe these are a comfortable choice for your trip to Disney World. You’ll be doing quite a bit of walking and these shoes are breathable, and their memory foam design helps support the feet. Although we had some issues with the soles coming out or rolling up after repeated use, we find that on a long trip where you are on your feet, this is a great pair of sneakers. Their slip on design makes them easy to put on and they are great for working out as well.

GECKO MAN Slip On Shoes

What We Like

  • Support for Plantar Fasciitis
  • Slip on design
  • Comes in many colors
  • Canvas design is durable

What We Don’t Like

  • Repeated use can flatten the sole
  • Canvas does make the shoes hard
  • Lack of breathing room

Review

We love the design and style of these shoes for a Disney World trip since they look like they came from the Florida Keys. These shoes are designed to help with arch support and specifically Plantar Fasciitis. They come with five color options including black, gray, and blue and they are made of a durable canvas. The canvas can cause them to be less breathable, and they can be a bit hard for some people.

Sunscreen

Banana Boat Sport Ultra SPF 30 Sunscreen

What We Like

  • Sweat and water resistant
  • Doesn’t contain oxybenzone or octinoxate
  • No Greasy feeling
  • Protection from UV rays

What We Don’t Like

  • No scent
  • May not be water resistant as long as advertised

Review

This travel size sunscreen is perfect for your carry on since it will get through TSA. When you purchase these you can get a large pack for everyone in the family to get their own individual tube. We like that this is a clinically proven sunscreen and that it can resist water and sweat, which will be important when you are sweating in line for the rides at Disney World.

Sun Bum Baby Bum SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray

What We Like

  • Plant based formula
  • High SPF
  • Spray makes it easy to apply
  • Travel size perfect to pass TSA

What We Don’t Like

  • Not water resistant
  • A bit messy and oily

Review

We love Sun Bum products and this Baby Bum sunscreen is one of our favorites because it is great for baby’s sensitive skin. It is fragrance free so there isn’t any irritation, but still has a high SPF for upgraded protection. We like that it comes in spray form, because it makes it easy to apply and the bottle itself is easy to store and travel with. We did find that it was a little oily and it was frustrating that we had to reapply every time our child came out of the water.

Portable Fans

JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan

What We Like

  • Works for 14-21 hours
  • Can be held or propped up
  • Comes in multiple colors
  • Also has a flashlight function
  • Can serve as a backup power bank

What We Don’t Like

  • No guard around the fan to prevent injury
  • Flashlight and fan have been known to die after repeated use

Review

We love this 3 in 1 portable fan, which you’ll need while walking and waiting all day at Disney World in the heat. This fan is one of our favorites because it easily folds up to take up less space and also serves as a powerbank for you to charge items like your phone when you’re on the go. The fan has a rechargeable battery that lasts 14 – 21 hours, which we find to be a generous amount of time.

JISULIFE Portable Neck Fan

What We Like

  • Hands Free
  • Has 3 speeds
  • Rechargable
  • Bladeless
  • Is quiet

What We Don’t Like

  • Doesn’t provide air to the back
  • Not the best design for long hair

Review

We love this headphone design since it is hands free giving you the opportunity to have it on during the entirety of your walking and waiting in Disney World. We enjoy that it’s rechargeable and comes in multiple colors such as yellow, dark green, and white. The issue we did have with it is that it only blows in one direction, so while it will keep your head and face cool, your back and chest won’t get any kind of cooling effect.

Bag/Backpack

BAGSMART Camera Backpack

What We Like

  • Multiple sections and access points
  • Customize the sections
  • Great for camera and laptop
  • Comfortable shoulder straps

What We Don’t Like

  • Canvas design makes it rigid and heavy
  • Top latch isn’t strong enough

Review

You’ll need a bag while walking around Disney World to carry whatever snacks or items you want, and we really loved this BAGSMART Camera Bag. It can, of course, carry your camera, but it includes many different compartments that allow you to carry multiple items including your laptop. We also love how easy each section is to access because off the different zippers and access points.

Narwey Travel Duffel Bag

What We Like

  • Your choice of over 40 colors
  • Waterproof design
  • Lightweight
  • Has multiple applications

What We Don’t Like

  • Zippers and straps are flimsy
  • Can’t pack too much in it or will not be accepted as a carry on

Review

If you are looking for an extra bag to carry all your souvenirs from Disney World, this is a great choice. We love this simple tote bag because it can carry multiple items and is designed to be a carry on bag, as long as it isn’t over packed. The waterproof design make it great to carry to the beach as well, and we love the lightweight design, making it easy to take along an extended day of walking.

Reusable Water Bottles

POYAKU Insulated Water Bottle

What We Like

  • Comes in different sizes
  • Wide mouth design
  • Insulated to keep it cold or hot
  • Leak Proof

What We Don’t Like

  • Heavy and bulky
  • Doesn’t keep it cold for very long

Review

You’ll want to have plenty of water when walking in the Florida sun, and we really loved this water bottle for its insulating ability, keeping water cold for extended periods. We also enjoyed that you had multiple options for size including 32oz, 40oz, and 62oz. It comes with two straws so you can either suck from the bottle or tilt to drink from it. We did find it to be bulky making it difficult to carry around for long amounts of time, and it will take up a fair amount of space in your bag, depending on the size you purchase.

Ello Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle

What We Like

  • BPA Free
  • Lid locks and is leak proof
  • Multple color options
  • Keeps water cold for up to 30 hours
  • Carry loop lets you hook it to your bag for easy access

What We Don’t Like

  • Finish chips easily
  • Plastic hooks are prone to breaking

Review

We loved the simplicity of this water bottle as well as it’s insulated design that keeps water colder for longer. It comes with a plastic hook so you can hook it onto your backpack or purse, and the lid is leakproof so even if you put it inside your bag you don’t have to worry about it leaking and damaging other items. We did have an issue with the durability of the design. The finish tends to gets scratched, it’s prone to dents, and the plastic clip that keeps the top on can break.
