Generally, apartment life doesn’t come with an outdoor space that’s conducive for gardening. But hydroponic growing systems such as the popular Gardyn Home and Gardyn Studio enable city-dwellers to grow herbs and veggies, sans the soil. And although they can be somewhat expensive, shoppers can take 20% off Gardyn systems right now ahead of Amazon’s Black Friday Week.

So, what exactly does caring for a Gardyn growing system entail? Let’s go through the steps so you can start growing delicious and nutritious food from the comfort of the great indoors.

Gardyn has two kinds of growing systems: the Gardyn Home 4.0 and the Gardyn Studio. The Gardyn Home 4.0 is designed for larger spaces (like a house, or maybe a two-bedroom apartment). It lets you grow 30 large plants in about 2 square feet of space (plants included). It comes with energy efficient LED lights, sunrise and sunset modes and real-time water measurement. The seeds germinate in rockwool, using plant food and water from the water tank. The growth is monitored with a camera that relies on Wi-Fi.

The Gardyn Studio, on the other hand, caters to smaller spaces. It’s about half the size of the 4.0, growing 16 full-size plants in 1.4 square feet. It comes with the full hydroponic growing kit, including plant food, seed starters, LED lights, sensors and more. It relies on a 4-gallon water tank and is monitored with a camera, just like its larger counterpart.

Even if you don’t necessarily have a green thumb, these gardening systems are relatively easy to assemble and use. “Super easy to assemble,” one shopper wrote in a review. “All but one of the plants spouted, which they took no time at all to do so, super fast. And is aesthetically pleasing. If you have the space, go for the larger size.”

With the current discounts, you can snag the Gardyn Home for $718 (originally $899) and the Gardyn Studio for $438 (originally $549). So, don’t miss your chance to scoop up the savings!
