When you search for “suave,” you’d likely find a photo of Michael B. Jordan. The 38-year-old Sinners actor is famously well-dressed, and we talked to a personal stylist who told how to go about recreating his timeless look.

Stylist Amanda Massi has been voted one of the top personal stylists in LA, and she described the styling choices that Jordan (and his own stylist) make, as well as suggesting some pieces that will help you put together your own effortlessly classy-looking wardrobe.

“Michael B. Jordan’s style is a masterful blend of contemporary cool and timeless sophistication,” Massi tells us. “He has an innate ability to make even the most casual looks appear effortlessly polished, showcasing a keen eye for tailoring and an understanding of how to let his natural charisma shine through his fashion choices.”

She also dropped some tips for a sample skincare and grooming routine — including hydrating serum, beard oil and more — for a face that’s as fresh as the clothes

How to Recreate Two Iconic MBJ Styles

1. Funky Prints: Even though you may be inclined to play it safe, Michael B. Jordan is all about playing with funky prints. During a Sinners promotion in April, he was dressed in an Italian cardigan with gray trousers, a white tee and a brown leather bag, which Massi showed us how to recreate with the following pieces.

To recreate the outfit, you don’t need a four-figure sweater, but Massi says getting playful is crucial.

“In order to get this look you need a sense of humor. Look for cardigans with an unusual print or objects,” she says. “To calm the look down you want to keep the remaining pieces classic.”

White Tee: For a base layer, Massi recommends a high quality Balmain tee. It’s quality, stylish and will last forever. But there’s nothing wrong with any other high-quality and more affordable fitted tees.

Cardigan: Next, Massi tracked down Jordan’s actual Bottega Veneta cardigan. It’s made in Italy from cotton-forward yarns, and if you’re choosing to splurge, it’s true-to-size. However, it’s $2,400 — luckily, this one is $50 and it’s just as fun.

Pleated Trousers: Jordan’s wide-legged trousers make the outfit, and Massi connected us with a pair from Fear of God. They’re nearly identical in color and style to his, and they’re made from wool. For $700 less, though, we like these Italian wool trousers from Todd Snyder.

Leather Bag: Every man needs a stylish weekender, whether for travel or the gym. Massi recommended a leather Bruno Cucinelli bag which great if you don’t need the money for car payments. But if you’d rather spend less than $5,400, you can get a top-grain leather weekender that will last for decades and still have enough to pay your bills.

Necklace: Massi recommends Versace’s unisex Medusa Necklace, which for Versace isn’t that expensive. Oddly, it’s easy to find similar options despite its unusual nature — this one, for example, is just $10.

Shoes: Jordan was in Bottega Veneta’s chunky, $1,450 laceup loafers, but stylish loafers aren’t difficult to find. You can get a great looking pair of lug sole loafers from American brand Bass for under $200

2. Business On Top: Michael B. Jordan’s styles sometimes combine streetwear and designer pieces, for his effortless cool style. For example, during his press tour, he combined a sleek Louis Vuitton jacket and wide-legged jeans — and he completely pulled it off.

It’s all about the jacket for this look,” Massi explains. “This Louis Vuitton jacket works so well because of its clean finish front.

Dress Shirt: Every blazer needs a button-down underneath, for which Massi recommends a Brioni dress shirt. Since it’s mostly hidden, though, you could totally get away with a less expensive option from Amazon.

Tie: To complete the “business on top” vibe, Massi picked a silk tie that quite literally oozes with class. There are less expensive options, but her pick is definitely higher quality.

Blazer: The exact jacket Michael B. wore is Louis Vuitton and way out of our price range. You’re not going to find one that nice cheap, but you can pick up a fresh double-breasted blazer for a lot less than the $4,000 Louis Vuitton gets.

Jeans: MBJ’s baggy jeans really complete the outfit. Massi picked a pair from Revolve that’ll just cost $248, but no one will fault you for wearing a pair of Levi’s 565s.

Sunglasses: Next you can accessorize with some cool shades. Of course, $556 is steep, so you could also get away with a cheaper version.

Shoes: To complete the ‘fit, Massi recommends leather penny loafers from the Italian designer Bottega Veneta. For a less expensive pair, though, there are always some equally stylish Steve Madden penny loafers.

The Two-Step Skincare Routine to Look Fine Like Michael B.

1. Exfolation: Exfoliating your skin helps shed dead skin cells, and keep things smooth. That’s why Massi recommends starting out your daily skincare routine with some sort of exfoliating face scrub. SkinMedica’s exfoliating cleanser is made with jojoba, which she recommends because it’s gentle yet firm.

“Michael B. Jordan likely uses a gentle, yet effective formula with natural exfoliants like jojoba beads or bamboo to slough off dead skin cells without irritation,” Massi explains.

2. Hydration: There’s no denying that Michael B. Jordan’s complexion is radiant and super healthy. So next, Massi recommends incorporating hydrating facial serum into your daily skincare routine. CeraVe’s includes vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, which she says is best.

“Look for one packed with nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin C,” she adds. “This is to deeply moisturize the skin, while also brightening and evening out his tone.”

One Grooming Habit You Need to Adopt For Get MBJ’s Smooth Jawline

1. Beard Oil: Michael B. Jordan’s signature facial hair complements his jawline while adding a serious masculine touch. But to keep it looking healthy, using a high-quality beard oil is key. SheaMoisture Beard Oil contains both Maracuja oil and shea butter, to promise healthy, smooth skin.

“This helps condition the beard hairs and skin underneath,” Massi explains. “It keeps everything healthy and well-groomed.
