Miami is the land of sand and sun — which makes taking extra care of your skin so much more important, especially in the summer. There are a number of skincare trends in Miami that dermatologists, health experts and celebrities alike are loving right now, and you can get in on them just in time for summer.
That’s why we spoke to Dr. Marianna Blyumin-Karasik, an MD board-certified holistic dermatologist and Co-Founder of Precision Skin & Body Institute in Broward County. We discussed skincare trends in Miami leading into summer incluiding include LED masks, gua shas and more.
“As a holistic dermatologist based in vibrant Miami, I’m seeing exciting skincare trends emerge just in time for summer,” she says.
1. Makeup = Skincare: Blyumin-Karasik tells us makeup is no longer just for the aesthetic. It’s also becoming an extension of your skincare routine.
To mix the two, she recommends swapping your typical foundation for Clinique Even Better Clinical, which contains SPF 45, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin B3 (stars like Emilia Clarke love this product). Likewise, IT Cosmetics CC Cream Matte also contains balancing serum and SPF 40 (which is why Zara Larsson uses it!).
“Foundations, tinted moisturizers, and even primers are now infused with beneficial ingredients like SPF, antioxidants, and hydrators,” she explains. “Think of it as the perfect marriage between makeup and skincare — enhancing your glow while protecting and nourishing the skin.”
2. Less Is More: Blyumin-Karasik is all about the less is more trend of skin minimalism. It primarily focuses on simplifying your skin routine to strengthen the skin barrier and reduce irritation.
Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum is one product that truly does it all — providing moisture, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and more (Cynthia Erivo loves this one!). Another is EltaMD Tinted Face Sunscreen, which Hailey Bieber uses. It contains antioxidants, SPF 50 and more.
“The key is smart, multifunctional products,” she says. “Like a sunscreen that also brightens and hydrates or a serum that combines renewal with soothing benefits. This approach not only streamlines your regimen but also reduces product overload and unnecessary expenses.”
3. Skincare Meets Wellness: People often blend skincare and mindfulness, which in turn can support both inner and outer beauty. Blyumin-Karasik also recommends Eminence Facial Recovery Oil, which is also a favorite of Cameron Diaz. It’s moisturizing, healing and calming, using a combination of herbs and oils.
Other mindful skincare tools Blyumin-Karasik recommends:
- Sol De Janeiro Delicia Drench Body Butter, which is healing and fragrant
- Face Yoga Book, a holistic practice that Jennifer Aniston follows to combat aging
- Jade Earth Gua Sha, which helps with lymphatic drainage
“Integrating sensorial products and tools (i.e. gua sha) creates a moment of calm,” Blyumin-Karasik tells us. “This synergy between skincare and wellness helps reduce stress and supports long-term skin resilience.”
4. Home LED Masks: To combat acne, inflammation and signs of aging, LED masks are growing in popularity. Of course, some treat conditions better than others. For example, blue light treats acne — not discoloration. Additionally, Blyumin-Karasik recommends using them less during the summer.
“As we transition into summer, with longer days and stronger sun exposure, it might be a good time to pause at-home light therapies. Instead, focus on safe, strategic time outdoors,” she says. “Early morning and late afternoon sun — when the UV index is lower — can help support natural circadian rhythm and stimulate Vitamin D production.”
But once summer ends, and you’re spending less time outdoors, Blyumin-Karasik recommends iRestore LED Face Mask Light Therapy and TheraFace LED Mask. While Chrissy Teigen, Julia Roberts and Victoria Beckham may not use those exact brands, they’re all about LED light therapy — and based on their agelessness, it may be time to follow their lead.
