It’s a common occurrence in our household for a wallet or a set of keys to get misplaced. Best-case scenario: You find what you’re looking for, but only after a lot of wasted time. Worst-case scenario: You’ve lost something valuable for good. Thankfully, you can avoid such a predicament with the Apple AirTag system, which is now on sale for 26% off as part of Amazon’s early Black Friday deals.

AirTags are simple to use and easy to track; my family has used them for over a year, and they’ve saved us dozens of times, whether it’s finding our keys or keeping track of our new dog. Read on for a look at how this gadget works, and why it’s a great purchase that has a variety of uses.

In a nutshell (or a small disc, in this case), an AirTag is a signaling device that emits a private Bluetooth signal. You can pick up that signal using the Find My app on any iPhone or iPad. Activating the AirTag is easy: Just unpack it and hold it close to your iPhone or iPad, and you’ll be prompted to name the tag and connect it with your Apple ID. From then on, it’s your own personal, privately connected device.

You can have as many AirTags as you want, and you can keep track of them all on the Find My app using a real-time global map. And we do mean “global” — from the U.S., we’ve been able to keep track of people and belongings as far away as Taiwan. If you’re in the general vicinity of an AirTag, you can get it to “ring” to reveal its location.

You can use an Apple AirTag for almost any situation in which you need to find a person or item. You can place it inside your luggage to keep track of it during a trip. You can hook it to your key ring so you’ll never lose it again. You can attach it to your pet’s collar (like we do) to locate them if they wander off. You can attach one to your bike or leave it in your car in case it gets stolen. In other words, you’ll have no problem finding a use for all four AirTags in this set.

Amazon reviewers praise the functionality, quality and easy setup of these gadgets, and as regular AirTag users, we agree. Plus, at its current bargain discount, now’s a great time to get a set — or stock up on more!
