The sometimes-quirky and always-beguiling Wolfsonian-FIU museum has a new director.

Casey Steadman, who has served as interim director for the past 18 months, has been named to lead the Miami Beach museum and study center dedicated to art and design. Steadman has been with the institution since 2013, when joined as Deputy Director of Business Affairs.

The museum is home to about 200,000 items from the period 1850–1950 illustrating the power of design as a means for persuasion. Holdings include furniture, art, rare books and propaganda posters collected by founder Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson Jr. In 1993 the museum became a department of Florida International University. It is now engaged in an expansion of its Miami Beach facilities.
