Artist’s ‘Winds of Change’ chosen as 2018 Coconut Grove Arts Festival poster
Artist Hector Prado, born and raised in Colombia, has been selected to create the official 2018 poster for the 55th annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival, which runs Feb. 17 through 19.
Prado’s poster, titled “Winds of Change,” was unveiled at a Jan. 18 reception at the Sonesta Coconut Grove Miami.
“Prado’s vision for this year’s poster depicts the winds of change that can move clouds and make the waves of the sea roll in a frenzy of exuberance and beauty,” according to a festival news release.
Previous festival posters have been created by artists including Guy Harvey, Maria Reyes Jones, Jacqueline Roch, Xavier Cortada, Clyde Butcher, Rick Garcia, Lisa Remeny and Romero Britto.
This year’s festival, presented by the Terra Group, is produced by the Coconut Grove Art and Historical Association, a nonprofit community organization. Proceeds from the annual event help to fund year-round arts programs. The association also runs the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery at Mayfair in the Grove, 3390 Mary St. One-day passes are $12 through Feb. 16; $5 for Coconut Grove residents.
