For a brief moment, the third season of the popular series House of Cards was available to stream on Netflix weeks before its scheduled premiere on Febuary 27. Ten of the planned thirteen episodes appeared on the site, bearing the titles Chapters 27 through 36. It was a matter of minutes before Netflix removed the new episodes, leaving fans to wait for the official premiere.
The series, which stars Kevin Spacey as political cutthroat Frank Underwood, has a devoted following. Spacey won a best actor Golden Globe for his portrayal of Underwood in season 2. Robin Wright, who plays Underwood’s equally-cunning wife Claire, was named best actress by the Golden Globes for her work in season 1.
Netflix is set to release all 13 episodes of the third season of its highly popular series on February 27.
Social media was quick to alert others of the early arrival of season 3 and mourn its swift removal.
