It’s the end of the world (of beer) as we know it.

Downtown Dadeland’s World of Beer has closed, according to an Instagram post, meaning the popular craft beer sports bar no longer has any locations in Miami-Dade County.

“World of Beer Dadeland has closed its doors. Thank you for all the fun times,” the post, on Nov. 6, states.

It has not been smooth going for World of Beer in South Florida. The franchise opened and closed locations in Midtown, in May, and was evicted from Kendall’s Town & Country mall in July. The Downtown Dadeland location opened in 2012 and initially joined other national chains.

But the Downtown Dadeland development has been turning more toward independent restaurants. World of Beer faced competition from local restaurants that have been gaining widespread attention. Among them are the hot Ghee Indian Kitchen where many of the ingredients are grown at the chef’s farm, Miami chef Michael Schwartz’s expanding Harry’s Pizzeria (which will be rebranded a Genuine Pizza), Barley American Brasserie, Zuuk Mediterranean Kitchen and an upcoming Pubbelly Sushi outpost from chef José Mendín.
