Nilo Cruz is staging ‘El color del deseo’ at Miami’s On.Stage Black Box
Miami’s Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz is teaming again with Arca Images to present another of his works in Spanish.
El color del deseo (The Color of Desire) will open Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Miami-Dade County Auditorium’s On.Stage Black Box, where it will have six performances through Nov. 15. The play, which had its English-language world premiere at Actors’ Playhouse in Coral Gables in 2010, is set in Havana at the turbulent end of 1960. In El color del deseo, an American businessman meets an actress, whom he hires to play his lost love.
One actor from the world premiere production, Teresa María Rojas, will appear in the new version along with Alexa Kuve, Zully Montero, Anna Silvetti , Ariel Texidó, Roberto San Martín, Andy Barbosa, Serafín Falcón and Alexei Reyes. Cruz is staging the production.
The play, which will have simultaneous translation in English, has performances at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 5-7 and Nov. 12-13, 5 p.m. Nov. 15. Tickets are $30 ($25 for students).
