Music will be in the air all over South Florida on Sept. 25 as two series and a chamber orchestra begin their 2015-16 seasons.
Kicking off its inaugural season Sept. 25-26 is Nu Deco Ensemble, a Miami-based chamber orchestra that presents work from all musical genres in collaborative performances. The ensemble’s Season One opens with a show titled Concert One at the Light Box at Goldman Warehouse in Wynwood, 404 NW 26th St., where Nu Deco will be collaborating with singer/songwriter Brika.
Friday’s performance takes place from 8 to 10 p.m., and general admission tickets are $30; Saturday night’s VIP show is from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $80 per person and include the concert admission, complimentary drinks and an after party with bites by STK Miami and a performance by the band Eons. The St. Hugh-Steinway Concert Series will open its new season with a show called Jazz, Love Songs & Broadway at 8 p.m. Sept. 25 at St. Hugh Catholic Church, 3460 Royal Rd., Coconut Grove. The concert will feature popular Latin and American love songs and Broadway hits.
It features Panamanian baritone Ricardo Velásquez, Venezuelan popera singer Miguel Delabarca, Miami soprano Jennifer Zamorano and Cuban singer Grethel Ortiz with Roberto Berrocal on piano. The 2015-16 St. Hugh-Steinway concert season will also feature concerts by violinist Aisha Syed, tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz and Berrocal. Broward College celebrates its 2015-2016 Bailey Hall Presents series at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 with an opening party featuring a performance by the Metta Quintet, a jazz ensemble that creates immersive performances with globally themed commissioned works.
The series includes nine performances, featuring a range of accomplished musical artists and theatrical performances. The lineup includes the Jerusalem Quartet, flamenco star Carlota Santana, the Chanticleer men’s chorus and more. The newly renovated Bailey Hall is at 3501 SW Davie Rd..
