At colleges and universities, see the stars of tomorrow and save
Theater tickets to touring Broadway shows can run more than $100 each, which means that a night out at a show can be one very expensive proposition for couples and families. But South Florida colleges and universities offer a more affordable option: See the stars of tomorrow, often in classics or musicals or shows that many professional companies wouldn’t risk, for less.
The Jerry Herman Ring Theatre at the University of Miami is a case in point. Individual tickets are $25 for adults; $22 for seniors, alumni, faculty and staff; $10 for students. And for that, this season, you can see Tennessee’s Treasures, a collection of Tennessee Williams pieces Sept. 23-Oct. 3; the Stephen Sondheim musical Saturday Night Nov. 11-21; William Shakespeare’s As You Like It Feb. 17-27, or the Broadway classic Guys and Dolls April 13-23.
Find the Ring Theatre on the University of Miami campus at 1312 Miller Drive, Coral Gables. For information, call 305-284-3355 or visit miami.edu/ring.
