South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center offers a customized subscription
Getting ready to celebrate its fifth anniversary season, the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center is offering a do-it-yourself subscription package to its Main Stage Series that saves up to 20 percent over single-ticket prices.
The subscription show options begin Nov. 6-7 with a performance of Verdi’s opera La Traviata. Jessica Lang Dance performs Nov. 14, and Solid Soul, featuring music greats Mavis Staples and Joan Osborne, follows Nov. 21. The John Pizzarelli Quartet plays Jan. 16, and Arlo Guthrie will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his hit song Alice’s Restaurant on Jan. 17. STREB Extreme Action Co. performs Jan. 30-31, and Culture Shock Miami presents the dance-music show Blaze on Feb. 6. Clarinetist David Krakauer and his sextet explore music from Jewish-themed movies Feb. 20, and South Africa’s Ladysmith Black Mambazo performs Feb. 26. Rock singer Lisa Fischer, featured in 20 Feet from Stardom, plays the center Feb. 27. Tap dance genius Savion Glover performs with percussionist Jack DeJohnette on March 5, and the improvised show Broadway’s Next H!T Musical is set for March 11.
Also eligible for subscription are the tour of Saturday Night Fever on March 19, Fiesta Mexico-Americana featuring Los Lobos on March 20, jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant on April 2, Broadway: The Big Band Years on April 9 and the dance group BodyTraffic on April 16.
The center is also offering different series — the Cabaret Series, the Family Series, Black Creek Nights (a club series), the Indie Flicks Film Series — as well as nonsubscription dance, theater and music. Seraphic Fire and New Theatre are both continuing their programming at the center.
