Jazz, classical and more to fill Coral Gables church in summer series

The 30th Community Arts Program summer concert series at Coral Gables’ Congregational United Church of Christ gets underway at 8 p.m. June 4 with a performance by the Sherman Irby Quintet, featuring Jazz at Lincoln Center artists Sherman Irby, Vincent Gardner and Willie Jones III, along with Charles Craig and Dezron Douglass. The Miami Jazz Institute All-Star Jazz Ensemble will open the show.

Also part of the summer lineup are Israeli cellist Amit Peled (June 18), singer James Tormé (July 2), pianist Awadagin Pratt (July 16), the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet (July 30) and Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Octet (Aug. 13). All concerts are at 8 p.m. at the church, 3010 De Soto Blvd., across from the Biltmore Hotel. General admission tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door; patron tickets $50 in advance, $55 at the door with reserved seating and a preconcert reception.
