The St. Hugh Steinway Concert Series opens at 8 p.m. Friday with a performance by a pair of opera stars, soprano Sandra López and tenor Stuart Neill. Pianist Roberto Berrocal, the series’ artistic director, will accompany the singers, who have performed at such prominent opera houses as the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala and the Royal Opera at Covent Garden.
Upcoming concerts in the series will feature soprano Janai Brugger, whose program will include works by Puccini and Strauss, as well as zarzuela and Broadway songs, at 8 p.m. Nov. 14; Cuban pianist Horacio Gutiérrez at 8 p.m. Feb. 13; and Uruguayan tenor Martín Nusspaumer, who will perform Schumann’s Dichterliebe along with tango songs at 8 p.m. April 10.
The series takes place at St. Hugh Catholic Church, 3460 Royal Rd., Coconut Grove. Tickets for one concert cost $60 for preferred seating and $40 for general admission; for the series, $220 for preferred seating or $140 for general admission.
