Actors’ Playhouse adds ‘Sondheim on Sondheim’ to next season

Actors’ Playhouse has filled in the missing piece of its 2015-2016 lineup with Sondheim on Sondheim, a musical portrait of Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning Broadway composer Stephen Sondeim. Conceived by Sondheim collaborator James Lapine, the show features new arrangements of more than two dozen songs from Sondheim’s body of work, singers and a chamber orchestra, and filmed commentary from Sondheim himself. The show will run March 16-April 3, 2016.

That production joins the already-announced The Toxic Avenger (Oct. 14-Nov. 8), The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge (Dec. 2-27), West Side Story (Jan. 27-Feb. 21, with lyrics by Sondheim), The Tin Woman (May 11-June 5, 2016) and Buyer & Cellar (July 13-Aug. 7, 2016).
