Billy Porter to sing on Miami Beach before rejoining ‘Kinky Boots’

Billy Porter, who won the 2013 best actor in a musical Tony Award for his performance as Lola in Broadway’s Kinky Boots, will wrap up the inaugural South Beach Broadway Series at Miami Beach’s Colony Theatre with concerts at 8 p.m. March 20-21.

Porter, a Grammy winner whose third CD Billy’s Back on Broadway includes 10 theater classics, will go back into Kinky Boots at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre on April 28. An actor-singer whose Broadway credits include Miss Saigon, Five Guys Named Moe, Grease and Smokey Joe’s Café, Porter is also a director whose production of The Colored Museum is at Boston’s Huntington Theatre through April 6.
