Blanchard, Labelle, Sinatra Jr. set for Jazz Roots at the Arsht Center
Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center has set five of the six concerts for the eighth edition of Larry Rosen’s Jazz Roots series in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall. The kickoff concert on Nov. 6, celebrating the movie music of Spike Lee and jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard, features the Terence Blanchard Quintet, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Maysa, Lizz Wright and the Frost School of Music’s Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra.
Kenny G brings his holiday show to the series Dec. 4, followed by a Jan. 15 “Salsa Summit” featuring Eddie Palmieri, Pete Escovedo, Juan Escovedo, Sheila E. and the Pete Escovedo Orchestra. Patti Labelle performs Feb. 5, with special guest Ashleigh Smith. Frank Sinatra Jr. reminisces about his father and sings the icon’s music March 11 in a program titled “Sinatra Sings Sinatra.”
