Shakira proves her timing is great, too. Hot off the Super Bowl, she announces a tour

Shakira won the Super Bowl. She reintroduced her music and mad skills as a musician and performer to a TV audience of 100 million. And now the Colombian singer-songwriter proves she’s got impeccable timing.

On the heels of Sunday’s halftime performance alongside Jennifer Lopez at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium, Shakira and concert promoter Live Nation announced the start of her first world tour since 2018.

That tour begins in 2021. In yet another media savvy move, Shakira and her handlers aren’t yet announcing any cities or dates or tickets on-sale date, the better to stoke attention for months to come.

How cool would it be for her to return to Hard Rock Stadium, though? If anyone can fill that space with sound and energy and charisma ...

In the meantime, enjoy that sizzling halftime show again on video. And might we suggest digging out some of her albums if you haven’t played them for awhile?

Moments after Sunday’s performance burned out our televisions, we were digging 2001’s, “Laundry Service,” and 2005’s “Oral Fixation, Vol. 2,” albums from which she drew “Whenever, Wherever” and “Hips Don’t Lie” for the show.

Shakira also performed “She Wolf,” “Empire,” “Ojos Asi” and “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)“ — most of which we bet feature on the coming tour, as well as her new single, “Me Gusta” that she recorded with Anuel AA.

“I want to thank Colombia for giving me the mapalé, the champeta, the salsa and the Afro-Caribbean rhythms that allowed me to create the Super Bowl Halftime Show that I dreamed of more than a decade ago,” Shakira said in a statement.
