Johnny Depp weds, Brian Williams backpedals

Johnny Depp’s film career may be tanking, but his love life is in fine shape. According to widespread reports, the Mortdecai star made it official with his Rum Diary costar Amber Heard on Tuesday at their home in Los Angeles. The couple will have a second bash on Depp’s (and now ostensibly Heard’s) private island in the Bahamas. Depp, who spent many formative years in Miramar, has hooked up with various women (remember the “Winona Forever” tattoo?) but only actually wed one other time — to makeup artist Lori Anne Allison from 1983 to 1985. He has two kids with French singer Vanessa Paradis; they were still together when he met Heard on the set.

STARRY NUPTIALS

Elvis’ granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, 25, wed stuntman Ben Smith-Petersen in Napa Valley, according to UsWeekly. The guests included Kristen Stewart, Zoe Kravitz, Cara Delevingne and of course, mom, Lisa Marie Presley, 47. Keough and Petersen met on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road in 2012; the movie hits theaters in May.

SUGE’S SAGA

Former rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was released from the hospital a day after complaining of chest pains and taken into custody around 9 p.m. Wednesday. The Death Row Records founder complained of chest pains Tuesday about an hour after he pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run charges.

GLITTER GUILTY

A jury in Britain found former glam rock singer Gary Glitter guilty of a string of sex abuse offenses against three young girls in the 1970s. The 70-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was found guilty of one count of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13. He will be sentenced on Feb. 27.

BRAIN SLIP

It’s no fun being Brian Williams this week. The NBC Nightly News anchor was forced to apologize for incorrectly claiming as recently as last week that he rode on a helicopter that came under enemy fire when he was reporting in Iraq in 2003. But many social media users aren’t forgiving sorts. You’ll note two trending hashtags: #BrianWilliamsMemories and #BrianWilliamsMisremembers along with memes of the newsman landing on the moon, driving OJ in the white Bronco, and even Dorothy, waking up from her Wizard of Oz dream. Let’s hope Williams has a hard shell, good sense of humor and forgiving boss.
