A kinder, gentler Justin Bieber

Either Justin Bieber got himself a new image consultant, or he is just starting to see the error in his ways.

After making a surprisingly timid appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the troubled pop star posted an emotional video to Facebook saying he wants to be “kind and loving and gentle and soft” and hoped he didn’t seem “arrogant or conceited, or basically how I’ve been acting the past year, year and a half.”

Bieber, who turns 21 on March 1, admitted to the talk show host that it was basically time to grow up and blamed his behavior on the difficulty of showbiz and growing up in the public eye.

I’M DONE

Lil Wayne has had it with his record label. He’s suing Cash Money in New York for $51 million after claiming that it stiffed him for $8 million on a record he delivered last month. In the federal lawsuit filed Wednesday, Lil Wayne is asking to nullify contracts with the company.

The New Orleans-born rapper says his relationship with the label has been deteriorating over the last four years. A lawyer for Cash Money didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment. The label was co-founded by his mentor, Miami resident Bryan “Birdman” Williams.

The Cash Money website is promoting the upcoming release of the record Lil Wayne finished last month.

ON SET TRAGEDY

A worker has died in an accident at a Taiwanese film lot during preparations for the shooting of a new Martin Scorsese movie. Taiwan’s Central News Agency said Chen Yu-lung was killed and two other men were injured after scaffolding around a building being torn down suddenly collapsed.

Shooting had not yet begun on the historical drama titled Silence about two Jesuit priests in 17th century Japan starring Liam Neeson and Andrew Garfield. Scorsese is in Taiwan to shoot, but it wasn’t known if he was on the lot.

HAUTE FASHION

Singer Carla Bruni, actress Catherine Deneuve and burlesque performer Dita Von Teese were among regulars attending the specular displays at Paris’ haute couture week Wednesday. Sophie Hunter, the fiancée of Oscar-nominee Benedict Cumberbatch, meanwhile, caused much fracas when she attended Valentino hiding her baby bump. But it was surely Naomi Campbell who stole the show, strutting out panther-like at Jean Paul Gaultier despite being dressed as a ... bouquet of flowers.

SLIPPED HIS MIND

Former Love & Hip Hop star star Benzino was arrested at the Atlanta airport after a loaded handgun was found in his carry-on bag. Benzino, whose real name is Raymond Scott, was charged with carrying a gun in an unauthorized location and released an hour later on $3,000 bond. Last year, Benzino was shot by his nephew while driving in a funeral procession for his mother in Massachusetts.
