‘On Your Feet!’ choreographer Sergio Trujillo nominated for a Tony
OYE! OYE!
It’s the “Hamil-Tonys” and every other musical just has to live in Hamilton’s world.
Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, romped over everything else Tuesday morning with a record 16 nominations for the Tony Awards, which will be presented on CBS June 12.
But Miami represented with New York voters as On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan snuck in a single nomination for Sergio Trujillo’s choreography.
Of course, On Your Feet! faces Hamilton in this category, too, alongside Shuffle Along, the revival of Fiddler on the Roof and Dames at Sea.
On Your Feet! fared better with seven Outer Critics Circle award nominations, including musical and acting nods for Ana Villafañe and Andréa Burns. The Drama League and Astaire Awards also showered nominations on the Estefans’ production.
