Miss the Starz TV show Magic City?
Well, there’s something bigger and better brewing — maybe. According to Deadline Hollywood, the period mob drama set in 1959 South Beach is coming to the silver screen, starring heavyweights Bruce Willis and Bill Murray. Original castmembers like Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played the fictional head of a Fontainebleau-like hotel — The Miramar Playa — in the show that was canceled last year, would join in the fun as well.
Magic City’s creator, Mitch Glazer, will direct the flick, reports the site. He’s got cred — the Key Biscayne native and Miami Beach High alum worked as a cabana boy at the Deauville back in the day. Good news: The movie most likely will be filmed in South Florida again.
Glazer told the Huffington Post last year: “It’s the largest practical, mid-century movie set on Earth,” he said of his hometown. “Even for the cast to be able to drive down Collins Avenue or go to Key Biscayne or go to the various areas that I write about in the show and see that they still exist. There’s a feel to it that I think permeates everything we do.”
