Bachelor contestant gets a rose despite being drunk

We have local representation on The Bachelor, starring Iowa farmer Chris Soules, but she came thisclose to getting booted off in the first round.

Can we say, “Hiccup!”?

Yes, Fort Lauderdale’s Tara Eddings nearly was eliminated, thanks to copious alcohol consumption.

The sports fishing enthusiast (so says her ABC bio) who works in the healthcare industry (so says her Instagram account) made a fun first impression on Monday’s premiere, greeting Soules in a cowgirl outfit. Later, while hanging around the house with the other 29 ladies, she ended up drinking too much.

By the time the rose ceremony came around, the 26-year-old blond was sloppy drunk, barely able to stand. Soules stepped out of the room to voice his concerns with host Chris Harrison. In the end, Eddings did end up receiving a rose, and hopefully she can abstain in future episodes.

MODERN PROBLEMS

In other Bachelor news, Nikki Ferrell opened up as to why she and Juan Pablo Galavis split back in October.

The former contestant, 28, told host Harrison during a pre-show red carpet special that the Magic City may be partially to blame.

“He lives in Miami and he’s in the entertainment industry and that’s his job and his lifestyle,” the Kansas City pediatric nurse said of Galavis, a sports and music consultant. “It was really hard for me to fit into that.”

Ferrell says she wasn’t comfortable when visiting him in his hometown.

“His life in Miami was very much a priority for him, so when I would come there I would feel like I was just kind of like thrown into his life,” she complained. “I knew I was never going to be the No. 1 priority. He has a daughter. ... But there’s a difference between being the second priority and the seventh priority.”
