Chris Rock’s marriage: What went wrong?

The year 2015 will be a new chapter for Chris Rock and his philanthropist wife Malaak Compton. The two announced they were splitting after 19 years of marriage on Sunday. They will share custody of their two New Jersey-based daughters, Lola, 12, and Zahra, 10.

Rock has long joked about the institution of marriage in his standup act and has been dogged by cheating rumors for years. The topper — getting slapped with a nasty paternity suit. DNA tests ultimately showed that Rock did not father the daughter of Hungarian model Monika Zsibrita, with whom he had a two-night stand while on a break from Malaak in 1998. In 2006, the Top Five star drew up divorce proceedings against his wife, but papers were never filed. The next year, Rock directed and co-wrote the comedy I Think I Love My Wife, starring as a husband with a roving eye. But in the end of that film, the protagonist ends up realizing the good situation he has at home.

A source told E! News that the Rocks have been “having marriage issues for years” and that they have “been living separate lives for some time.”

Well, at least somebody is happy — for now, anyway: rapper/actor Ludacris, who proposed to his girlfriend, African medical student Eudoxie Mbouguiengue, the day after Christmas in a most unconventional way, as per his Instagram account. The Furious 7 star popped the question mid-air on a private jet after they flew over a patch of grass asking him to marry her. They and a bunch of friends were headed to Costa Rica from Atlanta on vacation. Luda later posted a collage of their happiness with the caption, “She didn’t say yes. She said HELL YES!”

The bride to be is a forgiving type: Last year, while on a supposed break with Mbouguiengue, Ludacris got together with an old friend from Atlanta, Tamika Fuller, who gave birth to his baby, a girl named Cai, in December 2013, according to TMZ. Fuller and Ludacris (aka Chris Bridges) have been locking horns over custody payments.

It’s OK to be envious of Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara. They are not only genetically blessed but crazy in love. And unlike the majority of Hollywood couples, the two appear as if they are actually compatible for the long haul. For the Magic Mike star’s 38th birthday Sunday, the power couple headed to Hawaii and Vergara posted on WhoSay a droolworthy pic of balloons, a cake with a candle, two cups of coffee and a plate of pineapple slices in front of a window overlooking a stunning view of the ocean. In another post, the actress called Manganiello her “best friend.”

Orlando Bloom looks as if he is preferring blonds of late, but his latest conquest is not Taylor Swift. The hunky Hobbit star was photographed cavorting on the beach over the weekend in Cancun with a mystery woman who resembled the pop star, but no cigar. In an Event magazine interview, Swift’s buddy Ed Sheeran predicted that Bloom and Swift will get together because they live in the same building in NYC and that she has a thing for guys with an accent and wavy hair. Sheeran may know what he’s talking about. The Thinking Out Loud singer introduced Courteney Cox to her now-fiance, Snow Patrol band member Johnny McDaid.

Kaley Cuoco likes the schnozz she was born with, thank you very much. The Big Bang Theory star took to Instagram to shoot down rumors that she’d had a nose job over the holidays. The actress posted a picture wearing a small bandage under her nostrils thanks to sinus surgery she’d been “putting off for a year.” FYI: Her nose looks exactly the same as it did presurgery, if maybe a tad swollen.

Jill Zarin won’t be partying too much this New Year’s Eve. The former Real Housewives cast member announced on Twitter that she hurt her back while playing tennis in Aruba on vacay.

Adam Goldberg wasn’t going to spread the news that his writer girlfriend Roxanne Daner was pregnant. The reason for the secrecy? The Fargo costar admitted on WTF with Marc Maron that their last child together was stillborn. “It was horrifying, and it was also my worst fear,” Goldberg said.

Dustin Diamond, aka Screech from Saved by the Bell, appeared in a Wisconsin courtroom and posted $10,000 bail before his hearing in Ozaukee County Circuit Court. He is accused of stabbing a man during a bar fight on Christmas in Port Washington, where he lives.
