Talk about a blast from the past. If you’re interested in what caused the extinction of dinosaurs 66 million years ago, then you’ll want to head to a discussion at 7 p.m. Thursday at Books & Books Coral Gables. Harvard University physics professor Lisa Randall will lead Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science’s panel and read from her new book, Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs: The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe.
We have a winner! Crowned the newest it boy band on Univision’s reality competition La Banda Sunday night, filmed live at the Spanish network’s studios in Doral: Richard Camacho, Zabdiel de Jesús, Joel Pimentel and Christopher Vélez and Erick Brian Colón (the only Floridian — he’s originally from Cuba but lives in Tampa). The group will known be referred to as CNCO — pronounced like the letters C-N-C-O, not cinco, Spanish for “five” — and record an album with Sony Music Latin, produced by rapper Wisin.

The celebrities are coming — again. This time for New Year’s Eve. Among the bigger names we’ve heard about is Drake, who will play host at E11even, the 24-hour sexy downtown nightclub where Usher did the countdown duties last year. The $300-a-head party includes open bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, requisite champagne toast and scantily clad women, of course. Reserve at 11Miami.com/nye; 305-829-2911.
