Art Basel buzz: The celebrities are coming

It’s on! Out of the dozens of Art Basel Miami Beach events we’ve heard about this week, one that sounds a bit more random is Design Dialogue at the W South Beach, an invitation-only talk on fashion and art hosted by — wait for it — Miami Heat player Amar’e Stoudemire and renowned Filipino collector/real estate mogul Robbie Antonio and moderated by Surface Magazine editor-in-chief Spencer Bailey.

Among those expected to be Baseling is disco legend Giorgio Moroder, who will be DJ’ing a private party for London art gallery White Cube at Soho Beach House on Tuesday.

Others planning the trek: rapper A$AP Rocky; author Bret Easton Ellis; singer Cris Cab; producer/recording artist Swizz Beatz; actors Elijah Wood, Adrian Grenier and Sylvester Stallone; and politicians Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush for strategically planned fundraisers.

What better time than Art Basel to sell condos? That’s what developer Jorge Pérez says as he opens his sales center at 1400 Biscayne Blvd. on Thursday for a private cocktail, dinner, show and live auction celebrating — not condo sales — but the Global Gift Initiative’s Miami edition hosted by honorary chairs Eva Longoria and Ricky Martin. GGI is a philanthropic nonprofit organization that aims to create a positive effect on the lives of children, women and families who are in need. The evening will be hosted by Lili Estefan from El Gordo y La Flaca and entertainment reporter Michael Yo, of The Insider.

British pop singer Ellie Goulding will be front and center for the launch of her holiday makeup collection with MAC Cosmetics during a VIP party at Miami Beach EDITION hotel on Wednesday night. The Burn crooner will perform a few songs from her third studio album, Delirium, released earlier this month. Her beauty line, in stores and online Tuesday, is a feminine mix of pale pink eye shadows, glosses and blushes as well as extra long false eyelashes.
