We all want to leave the house looking red-carpet ready like the celebrities, but few of us have the time, tools or skill. That’s where Glamsquad comes in. Download the app, and put in your order: within an hour, a team of experts shows up at your door, ready to style you on the spot and make you feel very VIP. In town recently for the app’s launch in Miami was the company’s president/CEO Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, formerly of Gilt, Bulgari and Louis Vuitton. We spoke to the native New Yorker, who spends a lot of quality time in the 305.

How are you enjoying your trip? Where have you gone out?

I absolutely love it here. I have been coming on vacation since I was a baby. My mom is Cuban, so I have a lot of local friends. I love seeing how the city has developed over the years and am impressed with the cultural offerings especially in art and music. Key Biscayne has always been my happy place. When I cross that bridge, I feel completely at peace and I can’t help but smile and feel great. I’ve been to Cantina La Veinte in Brickell; Gigi and Sugarcane in Midtown; Mandolin [Aegean Bistro, in the Design District]; My Ceviche in Coral Gables; and Mr. Chow at the W South Beach.

Tell us about the app.

Glamsquad was founded on the premise that getting ready should be a whole lot easier. We provide professional and affordable beauty services to the home, office or hotel. Our team of experienced hair stylists and makeup artists is hand-picked and undergoes extensive proprietary training and character-assessment techniques to guarantee consistent, high-quality results and a positive experience.

What type of individuals are you seeing as clients?

Really diverse — from professionals of all ages and levels and busy moms to young and social women. Pretty much everyone is time starved yet wants to look and feel put together, without breaking the bank. Today’s society thrives on immediacy and instant gratification, and I believe that’s why on-demand apps have gained such popularity over the past few years.

Do you have a particular beauty routine?

I get monthly facials, hair trims every three months and I typically highlight my hair every two months. I am diligent about washing and moisturizing my face, especially around the eyes. I drink as much water as possible and take vitamins every morning. I love trying new brands and products, but when I find something that I love, I stick to it and replenish it.

Which celebs do you think have great style that women want to emulate?

Sofia Vergara, because she’s sophisticated, modern and sexy. Gwyneth Paltrow is chameleon-like; she can do so many different types of looks. I like that variety. And Emma Stone has a slightly rebellious, fun style and isn't afraid to take fashion risks.
