Stylist, actress team up to get you glam
Cara Santana has done the showbiz thing with roles on the big screen (Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva La Fiesta) and small (WGN America’s Salem). These days the actress has turned her attention to something a little more technical.
The Texas native and Rachel Zoe’s bestie, makeup artist/stylist Joey Maalouf, were in town for Miami Swim Week showing off their new baby: The Glam App. Download it, and a professional armed with a tackle box of goodies appears magically at your door.
“It’s beauty on demand — think Uber for hair and makeup and nails,” she said. “We wanted to make beauty accessible and affordable; while still creating a luxurious experience. We come to you and glam you up with a service typically reserved for the rich and famous and made it attainable to every woman, everywhere.”
It was Santana’s first time in Miami, and taking in all the runway shows with boyfriend and fellow actor Jesse Metcalfe was “a great introduction.”
“Beauty, fashion, sun and lots of fun. What’s not to love?” she said. “We checked out Bagatelle, Soho Beach House and The Delano. I was totally enjoying the flavor here, for sure.”
As for Maalouf, the former Bravo star’s interests are varied: “Soho Beach House is my favorite, but secretly I always have to visit Monkey Jungle,” he said with a laugh.
OK back to business, about that app: Santana thinks now is the time for such a service.
“Convenience for the modern women is on the rise. The demands today are infinite and simplifying out lives is a must.”
As for Santana’s own beauty regimen, less is more: “Soap and water in the morning. Sunscreen and moisturizer. Never sleep in makeup. And lots of sleep and water.”
LADIES’ NIGHT
What happens in Vegas ... oh never mind. Someone took a picture of one-time Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis getting rather close to a bride-to-be at a bachelorette party at The Bank Nightclub at the Bellagio last weekend. The two danced until 4 a.m., according to TMZ, but, phew, did not go back to the fantasy suite, leaving separately.
FAMILY PROBLEMS
While Ryan O’Neal takes the stage with costar Ali McGraw for Love Letters through Sunday at the Broward Center, when the actor exits stage left he is left to grapple with personal issues. His 30-year-old son with the late Farrah Fawcett, Redmond O’Neal, was sentenced this week to three years in prison for a probation violation. Radar Online reports that Redmond is being held at the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Correctional Facility on no bail. The judge in the case based his decision on a felony heroin drug possession conviction on July 10.
STAY CLASSY
It’s on! Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello will walk down the aisle at ... wait for it ... The Breakers in Palm Beach. Insiders reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly that the couple of one year will wed at the storied 140-acre South Florida resort on Nov. 22. That’s the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The oceanfront property can reportedly accommodate up to 800 guests at (cough!) $325 a head.
