Taylor Swift leads VMA nominations
Taylor Swift’s star-studded Bad Blood music video is paying off: She’s the top nominee at next month’s MTV Video Music Awards. The country pop singer is up for nine moonmen, including video of the year. Other nominees for the top prize include Beyonce’s 7/11, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking out Loud and Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson. The 2015 VMAs, hosted by Miley Cyrus, will air live Aug. 30 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Survivor: Africa winner Ethan Zohn is engaged. The 41-year-old, who battled Hodgkins lymphoma twice in 2009 and 2012, is engaged to his girlfriend of two years, NYC designer Lisa Heywood, 47. Zohn told People that she helped him in his cancer recovery.

Garrison Keillor, creator and longtime host of the popular A Prairie Home Companion radio show, is retiring after next season, after four decades of entertaining listeners with his baritone voice and folksy comedy sketches about Lake Wobegon, his mythical Minnesota hometown. The show is heard by 4 million listeners nationwide on almost 700 public radio stations each week.
PROPS FOR CAROL
The Screen Actors Guild is recognizing Carol Burnett for her six decades in entertainment. The actors’ union announced that Burnett will receive its 52nd Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual SAG Awards in January. Burnett, 82, is working on a book about the success of her variety show (1967-1978).
