Miami just got a little prettier.
Newish resident, Jaimie Hilfiger — yes, that would be fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger’s niece — has gotten into the beauty biz. The New York native is an ambassador for La Curcio skincare with an eponymous collection of such beach bag essentials as a Hydrating Mist, Ultra Mist Lip Balm and Hand Crème.
We chatted with the former model and University of Central Florida alum.
Tell us about your new venture.
Throughout my modeling career, I developed a strong love for beauty and skincare. I have had the privilege of working with some of the world's best makeup artists, but I noticed that some of their products were taking a toll on my highly sensitive skin. I began to learn about the toxic chemicals in most products, and I was worried. I needed something that combined high performance with healthy ingredients. My stuff works well for all skin types. They have no artificial fragrance or artificial dyes. They’re also paraben, phthalate and gluten free as well as packed in recyclable containers and proudly made in the USA.
What are your top three beauty secrets?
1. Always wash your face before bedtime. 2. Always drink plenty of fruit-infused water. 3. Regular hot baths with bath salts to detoxify.
What about your diet and exercise routines?
I believe that in order for a woman to feel her best and to project positivity, she must also look her best in the healthiest way possible. I love to practice yoga and Pilates. I stick to a very healthy diet of fish, sushi and vegetables. I have a huge sweet tooth though and always treat myself to Laduree macarons because they are my absolute favorite! I feel that it’s important to not restrict yourself too much.
What are some trends you are seeing for the long, hot summer?
It’s important to have a glow. Shimmer eye shadows in neutral tones always look gorgeous this season as well. Nude nails are also very chic.
You’ve been in Miami about a year. What are you favorite haunts so far?
My fiancé [jewelry designer] Igal Dahan and I love to go out. The food here is amazing. Our favorite restaurants are Zuma, Mr Chow and Nobu. For a night on the town we go to Soho Beach House, LIV and the SLS Hotel.
How has your famous uncle influenced you?
Growing up Hilfiger certainly gives you a unique front-row look at the fashion world and a true appreciation of the beauty that creates the art of fashion. Early in my career, my uncle would sometimes put me to work backstage to add some of the accessories to the models before they stepped out to walk at the shows. It’s definitely inspiring to have watched some of the before-they-were-famous Tommy models including Britney Spears, Kate Hudson, Ivanka Trump and Balthazar Getty. I’ve also realized that beauty and fashion are not just something that is unveiled for a couple of weeks each season. We are all surrounded by beauty in our daily lives. Every day is a new inspiration.
What celebrities have great style sense, in your opinion?
I once did a college internship in Jennifer Lopez’s showroom while my uncle Andy Hilfiger worked with her to develop one of her fashion lines. She has been my ultimate beauty and style icon ever since. Her skin is always flawless. Jlo’s approach to beauty is timeless and classic, but she always adds a modern twist. Her aura is undeniable, and she exudes glamour.
