AOC tests positive for COVID with ‘symptoms.’ Did she catch it on her Miami vacation?
Shortly after her New Year’s Eve vacation to Miami, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has tested positive for COVID.
AOC was “experiencing symptoms and recovering at home,” according to her official Twitter account Sunday night. “The congresswoman received her booster shot this fall and encourages everyone to get their booster and follow all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance.”
We have no possible way to know how the New York Democrat contracted the virus or when, but of course, tongues are wagging.
According to the CDC, the incubation period for coronavirus lasts up to 14 days, and most people who become ill develop symptoms between four to five days after exposure. With the highly contagious omicron variant of COVID, however, University of Florida scientists shortened their incubation period to about three days instead of five days, based on their computer models of the virus.
When AOC was in South Florida, she caught heat for enjoying outdoor activities, such as a cocktail and a drag brunch, maskless.
The 32-year-old Bronx woman got slammed on social media for being hypocritical as she staunchly supports mask mandates in her home state but wasn’t wearing one in a photograph taken in South Florida over the long holiday weekend.
Both Florida and New York are experiencing a huge surge in cases linked to the omicron variant, with hospitalizations on the rise, home tests sold out and testing centers strained. On Monday, Florida reported 125,996 new COVID cases and 182 new deaths to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention over a multi-day period, according to Herald calculations of CDC data, with most of the cases (77,156) reported Saturday.
Neither AOC’s personal Twitter nor Instagram makes mention of any illness.
Her last Insta post was two weeks ago when she was trying the Paqui One Chip Challenge, eating what is known as the world’s spiciest chip, made with the Carolina Reaper pepper.
As per her Insta stories, Ocasio-Cortez was definitely in NYC as of last Tuesday, posting Story snippets of her boyfriend Riley Roberts’ feet in response to far-right critics of his sandals while they were pictured on their sunny vacation.
“So we recently went to Florida, where Republicans developed an obsession with Riley’s feet,” she texted on screen. “So give them what they want.”
