‘This is the problem!’ Cops called on ex-Dolphin Brandon Marshall as he moves into new home

Move-in day didn’t go exactly as planned on Thursday for former Miami Dolphins player Brandon Marshall.

In cellphone video posted to his Instagram, Marshall is seen screaming at two security guards at the entrance to his new gated community in Weston.

“This is the problem! I come here; you feel uncomfortable,” the former NFL wide receiver yells at two men in suit and tie at the entrance. “My first day moving into my new house, because my name is not on the list, you call the cops!!”

The camera pans to a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy calmly waving.

One of the guards mumbles that they are just doing their job. Marshall snaps back: “No! You’re not trying to do your job. There was no threat and no need to call the cops!”

The PIttsburgh native who grew up in Winter Park then seems to reference the current racial strife in the country, including the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, earlier this week. The man, whose children were in the car during the incident, remains in the hospital, paralyzed.

“This is what we’re seeing every single day! I got two kids in the car!” Marshall screams. “We’re now in Weston, Florida, one of the most affluent areas. I know there are other Black people who live here.”

Marshall, who played for the Dolphins in 2010-11 and now is a gym owner, told WSVN-Channel 7 he hopes his video will help spark more conversation about racism and police brutality in the nation.

“The reality is, people fear our skin,” he told the station. “That’s the reality.”

A spokesman for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Miami Herald Friday that a patrol car was sent out to the home Thursday, but no incident report was filed.
