PG-13: Comedian’s daughter’s Zoom bat mitzvah turns into ‘hysterical’ peep show
This story will age well.
In true coronavirus party style, Gilbert Gottfried and wife Dara Kravitz threw a Zoom bat mitzvah for their daughter, Lily, last week.
About 70 people were in attendance, with a few South Florida residents in the mix, as well as celebrities Richard Belzer and Barbara Feldon.
But the blessed event had an unexpected technological mishap, The New York Post first reported.
A guest, apparently unaware of the inner workings of the video conference app, exposed herself while not realizing her camera was on and all could see.
“She wasn’t familiar with how to work Zoom and proceeded to take off her bathing suit, get naked, and take a shower in the middle of the bat mitzvah and entirely on camera,” a source told the NYC newspaper.
What makes matters worse, the woman did not have the sound working, either, and did not hear others telling her to put on clothes.
“She didn’t realize that we could all see her get undressed, walk around her bathroom, take a shower, answer the phone with a close-up shot,” the source continued.
The unintentional streaker, South Florida’s Francine Leibman, laughed off the social media gaffe.
“That’s how I roll,” Leibman, who used to own a makeup store in Miami Beach, told the paper.
Host Dara Kravitz also laughed off the incident, posting the article on Facebook, with the caption, “That’s how we roll, too.”
FB commenters, many of whom were in the Zoom party, thought the flashing episode was a hoot, calling it “classic” and “hysterical.”
One pun-prone poster called it a “Boob Mitzvah.”
“Luckily, Francine has the best sense of humor,” Kravitz told the Miami Herald of the 70-something bon vivant. “She was cracking up and not embarrassed at all.”
Kravitz, a Miami native, said her godfather, South Florida lawyer Joel Magazine, tried to call and tell his fellow partygoer to put on some clothes, but wasn’t able to get Leibman on the phone.
When she eventually found out about the peep show, she was apparently happy people got a good chuckle out of it.
“The story went viral,” said Kravitz. “Now Francine is getting calls from people she hasn’t spoken to in 20 years.”
