Not your average hospital food: Miami ER heroes lavished with Michelin-star meals
One-hundred local emergency room doctors and nurses this week were duly fed like the kings and queens they are.
Restaurateur Shareef Malnik and his wife, “Burn Notice” star Gabrielle Anwar, helped lead an effort to make sure the front-line workers were fed well. Very well.
The meals that went to the healthcare workers were prepared by Michelin-starred chef Chris Lee (formerly of The Forge) as part of a mission called “Feed Our Heroes.”
Among the gourmet offerings delivered to Jackson and Mount Sinai hospitals: lobster bisque, roasted beets and burrata, braised beef short ribs. For dessert, flourless chocolate cake. They also got something for their precious off-hours: La Adelita Tequila from CEO Chris Rodomski, who spearheaded the charity project.
As for Malnik, he was happy to participate as he has some time on his hands after he closed his family business The Forge in Miami Beach last April for renovations. No word on a reopening date after the pandemic lockdown ends in phases.
