Sam Smith just channeled Gloria Estefan — then he got an unexpected response

Sam Smith almost broke the internet on Tuesday.

The British singer shared a video on Instagram of himself dressed top to bottom in black spandex, red high heels and ruffle skirt, dancing to Miami Sound Machine’s 1985 classic hit “Conga.” And yes, Smith can shake it like the best of ‘em.

The caption: “Tonight Matthew...I’m gonna be @gloriaestefan.”

Smith was referencing the expression used in the iconic English show “Stars in their Eyes.”

The entertaining Cosplay did not go unnoticed: Estefan, who is in London promoting her musical life story, “On Your Feet,” reposted Smith’s video to her own account and wrote him directly:

“What an incredible welcome to London! Love you @samsmith,” the Miami superstar posted.

Then came the job offer:

“Do you want to join our @onyourfeetuk cast… we’ll be opening on the West End this summer!!”

We did not see a response from Smith. Yet. But we think it would be a great fit.

The “On Your Feet” tour of the Estefans’ musical is currently in Arizona, hitting West Palm Beach at the Kravis Center Jan. 8-13.

It hits the London Coliseum in June 2019.
