The fall of the house of Duggar?

AP

The Family Research Council has accepted the resignation of Josh Duggar in the wake of the reality TV star’s apology on Facebook for bad behavior as a youth.

Tony Perkins, president of the Washington-based Christian lobbying group, said in a statement Thursday that Duggar resigned because of information becoming public that he believed would “make it difficult for him to be effective.” As executive director of FRC Action, he served as a public face of the organization.

Duggar, 27, appears on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting. The oldest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children was named in a police report as the “alleged offender” in an underage sexual abuse probe, In Touch magazine reports.

TLC had no comment, but execs can’t be pleased. In October, the network was forced to pull the plug on its reality series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after reports that Boo Boo’s mother, Mama June (Shannon), was seeing a former boyfriend, Mark McDaniel, who was convicted of child molestation. June told TMZ she is out of a lot of money since the series was canceled and is thinking of suing TLC if they keep the Duggar show on the air.

SAFETY FEARS

A Vermont man who used to house-sit for character actor Luis Guzman has agreed to stay at least 300 feet away from him. The Caledonian-Record reports that Guzman alleged in court documents that Joda Hodge was stalking him. The 58-year-old Guzman was granted a temporary restraining order in April. In a court settlement Thursday, the 39-year-old Hodge agreed to not have contact with Guzman, who lives in Sutton. Hodge had been house- and dog-sitting for Guzman, who has appeared in such films as Boogie Nights and Carlito’s Way. But Guzman says the relationship soured after Hodge brought a gun last month. Guzman says Hodge agreed to leave but then sent Guzman a text message a week later that made him fear for his safety.

STARRY NIGHT

Amid celebrity schmoozing, glamorous fashions, musical performances and the frequent banging of the auction hammer, the French Riviera’s annual star-filled amfAR gala brought in its expected share of drama — with celebrity invitees including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Sienna Miller and Adrien Brody.

But, more importantly, Thursday’s celebrity auction in Cap d’Antibes, at the luxurious Hotel du Cap-Eden Roc, raised in excess of $30 million for the fight against AIDS, a cause for which Elizabeth Taylor, one of the organization’s founders, fought until her death in 2011. The late icon figured prominently into the hours-long event, as an Andy Warhol portrait of her was auctioned off, and quickly snapped up by Eva Longoria for 540,000 euros ($600,000).

SIN CITY

Authorities in Las Vegas say Flavor Flav has been arrested on allegations of driving under the influence, speeding, possessing less than an ounce of marijuana and having an open container of alcohol in the 2005 black BMW he was driving.

Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Loy Hixson said Thursday that the 56-year-old entertainer was pulled over as he entered Interstate 15 southwest of McCarran International Airport around 12:30 a.m. for going 73 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Hixson says Flavor Flav also had a suspended driver’s license and registration. He faces several misdemeanor charges.

LOVE IN THE AIR

Jim Carrey has found love again. Paparazzi caught the actor-comedian out in NYC hand in hand with his ex, on-again girlfriend, magazine editor Cathriona White. The 53-year-old looked noticeably older than the 28-year-old Irish beauty as his beard has gone almost completely grey.

Speaking of age discrepancies, Robin Thicke has gone public with his new lady. The 38-year-old Blurred Lines singer made his official debut as a couple with his 20-year-old model girlfriend, April Love Geary, at Cannes. Robin and April attended several events together at the star-studded film festival, the first being the De Grisogono party on May 19, where Robin performed. Funny, Geary looks a lot like his ex, Paula Patton.

MOVING FORWARD

Los Angeles Superior Court Lawrence Cho ruled Friday that attorneys for Nick Loeb can file an amended lawsuit against Sofia Vergara seeking access to the embryos so that they may be implanted in a surrogate. They split in May 2014.
