Janet Hines-Norris is 50-something and fabulous.
The Indiana resident snagged the win in the 2015 AARP Superstar singing competition held at the Miami Beach Convention Center Friday evening. She went home $5,000 richer, along with a ticket to Pasadena, California, to record at a professional music studio.
After Hines-Norris (actually 53 years young) belted out Whitney Houston’s classic The Greatest Love of All, one of the celebrity judges, Chaka Khan, told her “You sang that better than I could!”
The petite housekeeper (who practices hitting the notes during her workday) also impressed fellow judges Emilio Estefan and Kenny Loggins with her rousing rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings.
Loggins made sure he wrapped up the Arsenio Hall-hosted event rocking the crowd with his hit ’80s song Footloose.
“I’ve gotta tell you,” the singer said, “I was not prepared for the level of talent we saw here tonight. This is what AARP is all about — it’s about never giving up on your dreams.”
Meanwhile, earlier in the day at the convention center, Carla Hall, co-host of ABC’s The Chew, teamed up with AARP Credit Cards from Chase to help volunteers pack 50,000 meals for older Southern Floridians in need at the AARP Life@50+ National Event and Expo.

Phil Collins was in the Miami Beach air Sunday morning. The musical legend and his ex-wife Orianne Collins (Mejjati) came together at Joe’s Stone Crab to support their charity, the Little Dreams Foundation.
Though he signed autographs for gobsmacked fans, the former Genesis frontman — unshaven and dressed casually in a button-down shirt and baseball cap — did not perform. However, his talented son, Nicholas Collins, stepped up to the plate — well, behind the drums — performing with his band What You Know.
The performance was led by “music technologist” David Frangioni, who is close to the charity that helps young, underprivileged children move forward in a career. When he was 2, the cancer survivor was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, and is blind in one eye.
New couple around town: Lil Wayne and Christina Milian. The Rebel singer recently got a tattoo on her inner bicep on her left arm that reads “Love Hard TNT.” All Hip Hop reported that the initials stand for “Tina N’ Tunechi,” their nicknames for each other.
The 33-year-old mother of one told E! News earlier this month what she finds so attractive about Weezy: “He’s a very genuine person,” said the star of E! docuseries Turned Up. “No matter what, love comes first for him.”
On Friday, Milian showed off her body art during a photo shoot for local streetwear designer We Are Pop Culture in the waters off Miami Beach. She was introducing a tank-like dress you can wear over a bikini.
Real Housewives of Miami cast member Alexia Echevarria is not so suddenly single. The executive editor of Venue magazine has separated from her husband Herman Echevarria. The ex couple will continue to run the Spanish-language glossy out of the Brickell Avenue headquarters.
She released a statement to The Miami Herald: “At this time I can confirm that Herman and I are separated and proceeding with divorce filings amicably. I am grateful for a happy almost 15 years of marriage but ready to move onto this new chapter of my life. We will continue to run Venue together and Herman will continue to spend time with [her sons from a previous marriage] Frankie and Peter ... thankful for the outpouring of support from fans and colleagues during these tough times.”
