One Direction 1 man down; Peter Facinelli engaged

AP

What’s wrong, honey? One Direction’s Zayn Malik has left the boy band’s On the Road Again World Tour. Reason? He’s overwhelmed. A spokesman for OD told The Sun: “Zayn has signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate.” The real story (we think): Malik has been dogged by rumors that he is cheating on his fiancé Perrie Edwards of Little Mix.

BLURRY VERDICT

Musician Nile Rodgers says it is “shocking” that Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke have been found guilty of plagiarism in the Blurred Lines court case, adding that he believed the song’s composition was not at all like Marvin Gaye’s Got to Give it Up. He told The Associated Press Thursday: “Compositionally, purely compositionally, I don’t think they should have lost that case.” He added: “Got to Give it Up is clearly a blues structure, Blurred Lines isn’t at all.”

Williams and Thicke, whose divorce from Paula Patton was finalized earlier this week, have been ordered to pay $7.4 million to the Gaye family.

MOVING ON

Isn’t it romantic? Peter Facinelli popped the question atop the Empire State Building last week, and Jaimie Alexander said yes. The 31-year-old Thor actress posted a snap to Instagram. The 41-year-old Twilight actor has three daughters with 90210’s Jennie Garth, who is still currently single.

QUEEN FOR A DAY

It’s often unnerving for actors to meet the people they play — even more so when that person is the British monarch. Kristin Scott Thomas came face-to-face Thursday with Queen Elizabeth II, whom she is set to play on the London stage in The Audience. The actress was at Buckingham Palace to be made a dame for services to drama. Thomas said the queen told her playing her “would be quite a challenge.” The Audience charts the queen’s relationship with successive prime ministers over her six-decade reign.
