Tameka Raymond on ‘Style Theory’ tour

Tameka Raymond is most definitely stepping out of the shadow of her ex, pop star Usher.

These days, the celebrity stylist is going back to what she knows: helping others look fabulous. On Saturday, she’ll make a local stop at The Mondrian on her “Style Theory” tour, which includes appearances, workshops and seminars by beauty and fashion professionals like Tracy Alonzo Mourning. Partial proceeds will benefit Kile’s World Foundation, named after Tameka’s son Kile Glover, who died in 2012, and focuses on art education for kids.

In January, Raymond released her first book, White Bras & 101 Other Style Faux Pas, which dispenses tips and advice like it’s better to reach for flesh tone or black when you’re dealing with brassieres.

“It’s very important to present yourself well,” says the Atlantan at the Soho Beach House. “Your look speaks volumes about you. You never realize how much time you have to make that first impression.”

The 44-year-old went on to say that she met one of her biggest clients, Lauryn Hill, on an elevator.

“Can you imagine if I looked like hell? It may have changed the outcome,” Raymond says. “At the very least, your nails should be polished, hair and eyebrows groomed; wear a little lip gloss. The most key thing is to approach every situation with a positive attitude.”

So, inquiring minds want to know: Who has great style in Hollywood?

“I’m very critical but I love it when people look effortless,” she says, citing British lovelies Rosie Huntington Whitely and Sienna Miller. “Jennifer Lopez is really on point, whether she dresses up or down. She knows how to wear clothes that really complement her physique.”

And we’re guessing there’s not one white bra in J.Lo’s lingerie drawer.
