Serious art buyers were plotzing Wednesday at the VIP preview of Art Basel when Barbra Streisand showed up to browse. In town for shows at the AAA and BB&T Center, Babs was with hubby James Brolin, some bodyguards and her dog. While fans gawked, they were warned not to take pictures or touch the dog as Streisand perused some Picassos.
Martha Stewart was seen Monday night at Casa Tua for preview of the partnership between Dean & DeLuca and architect Ole Scheeren at Design Miami/2016. Also seen there: Brett Ratner. On Wednesday, Stewart was seen with good pal and fine food guru Thomas Keller at StripSteak by Michael Mina at the Fontainebleau.
The Daily Front Row Art Basel celebration at Faena became one of the largest and most sought after events on Tuesday night. At one point during the evening, more than 400 anxious scene chasers were waiting at the velvet ropes. The event marked the unveiling of Faena’s beachside dome, and those who made it through included Nashville’s Hayden Panettiere and husband Wladimir Klitschko (seen earlier in the day taking a VIP tour of Jungle Island with their baby daughter), model Natasha Poly, Jeremy Scott, Alan Faena, designer Lorenzo Martone, artist Juan Gatti and, spawn of Sean, Hopper Penn.
Katie Holmes was seen Tuesday at the unveiling of artist Sun Xun’s oceanfront installation on Miami Beach, where she posed for pix with Serena Williams, brand ambassador for the installation sponsor, Audemars Piguet. Afterward, Holmes and a “gal pal” had a quiet late-night dinner at Macchialina, supping on a special vegan pasta made just for her by chef Mike Pirolo.
Diddy kicked off Art Basel with a wild party Wednesday at Rockwell, where he partied with hip-hop artist Travis Scott, Sammy Sosa, Tyson Beckford and retired baller Kenny “The Jet” Smith.
