“I only recently finished Claudia Rankine’s Citizen, and I’m still haunted by her lyric poetry that teaches me so much about emotional scars and about how power struggles in America can shape our minds. I also recently read and reviewed Jennine Capó Crucet’s Make Your Home Among Strangers, and I loved how this book encompasses family and belonging as themes. Mostly, I love that it’s a Miami novel in many ways. And I always revisit my favorite novel of all time, One Hundred Years of Solitude, to remind myself that storytelling can weave the poetic and the magical at the same time, the result being a tapestry of wonder that stays with a reader forever.”

Fabienne Josaphat, author of Dancing in the Baron’s Shadow
