What are you reading now?

“As soon as I hear the words ‘a book of short stories,’ I usually feel a bit disappointed. But I’m almost finished with Anthony Marra’s The Tsar of Love and Techno, and this has to be one of the best books I’ve read all year. Marra, who wrote the elegant and haunting A Constellation of Vital Phenomena, has masterfully crafted a series of interconnected, intergenerational tales of Russians living with grace and dignity under the heavy boot of Soviet and Post-Soviet indifference and atrocity. The stories build effortlessly on one another, creating a whole that is both poignant and ironic.
